“For as long as I can remember I wanted to be an “artist.” Coming from a family of nine however, my father “strongly suggested” it would better serve me and the family to have a trade. As my dad put it, “artists don’t make money.” So off I went to become a hair stylist in the late 60’s – 80’s, working in the daytime and studying at night wherever and whenever I could. I moved west in 1979 and studied art at Santa Monica College until 1985 when I had my first son, then a second in 1991. My attention to school and art was put on hold at that point while raising my two young masterpieces and taking care of our family. In 2002 after a separation, art once again became my focus and has remained so ever since.
“Art is what I do. It's what I've always wanted to do because I have to.”
